In accordance with the Article 45 part 1 of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 889/2008 of 5 September 2008 and Article 171 of Rules of organic agriculture, permissions are being issued in accordance with the established procedure (https://www.ekoagros.lt/ekologisku-produktu-gamybos-sertifikavimas).

Ekoagros does not issue any permissions, related to plant propagating material, except for certified seeds and seed potatoes.

Article 45 of the Regulation only indicates the seeds and seed potatoes (plant propagating material), so no other permission for propagating material are issued and non-organic seedlings cannot be used on organic holdings.

Ekoagros carries out annual inspections and certifies the crops grown in the current year and the declared area. In accordance to which crops and what areas will be declared in 2020,  accordingly by giving the status to the fields and will be certified.

By participating in the program „Organic farming“, you have made certain commitments for a certain period of time. In order to find out, what sanctions may be imposed you should refer to The National Paying Agency.

In order to surrender organic farming, you must notify Ekoagros in writing and the agreement of indefinite duration with Ekoagros will be terminated, from the day of termination withdrawing all documents issued to you.

Yes, this requirement also applies to composted manure, as part of the Article of the rules states: „or other products authorized for use in organic production and made from these materials“.

The whole Article 60 of Rules of organic agriculture is as follows: „ The holdings, intending to fertilize organic production areas with organic fertilizers (solid manure, semi-liquid manure, liquid manure or slurry) or other products authorized for use in organic production and made from these materials may use them from non-organic non-industrial agricultural holdings, i. y. holdings with an average of no more than 300 contract animals per year per holding. Manure and / or slurry must be stored separately from manure on industrial farms“.

If a farmer does not use and does not intend to use any fertilizers, he does not need to prepare this fertilization plan. However, according to the Article 40 of the Rules of organic agriculture indicates that: „In all certified areas where crops (excluding areas of fruit and berry orchards, herbs and meadows) are grown, the holdings must by fertilizing the certified fields with solid manure, semi-liquid manure, liquid manure or slurry to prepare a fertilization plan (for which it is mandatory to do so in accordance with the requirements of the Description of environmental requirements for manure and slurry management) and to comply with it“.

According to the 21 non-compliance of Non-compliance assessment procedure (PR-05), published on the website of Ekoagros, in such case warning is always being applied, and the non-compliant fields are certified as “non-compliant with the requirements for crop rotation”. However, this non-compliance does not reduce the status of the production.

Article 5 (1) of Commission Regulation No. 889/2008 states that „Where plants cannot be adequately protected from pests and diseases by measures provided for in Article 12 (1)(a), (b), (c) and (g) of Regulation (EC) No 834/2007, only products referred to in Annex II to this Regulation may be used in organic production. Operators shall keep documentary evidence of the need to use the product“. Sodium bicarbonate is listed in Section 3 of Annex II as „substances not mentioned in Sections 1 and 2“ and may be used on organic farms.

When using products approved by another country‘s certification institution, you must take into account the purpose of using such product and the specified conditions of use. In addition, all ingredients of the product must comply with the products listed in the Annexes of Commission Regulation No 889/2008, also their intended use and conditions.

The requirements for an organic fruit orchard shall be found in the Rules of organic agriculture, approved by the Minister of Agriculture in 28 December, 2000 order No. 375. More specifically, it is regulated in Articles 50 to 53 of these Rules.
